I
actually almost didn’t make it because it was a very last minute video idea,
which I filmed, edited and uploaded yesterday (December 29). It was a total
crunch-time for me but the feeling of accomplishing my goal was
beyond-words-amazing! I am talking about this video here:
There
was supposed to be a voice-over for this video but I was not able to make it due
to lack of time. I know it’s a super simple makeup look but the idea is to be
able to create a simple but put-together look without spending too much on
makeup products.
All the
products I used in the video are very affordable and none of them cost more
than P200.00, which for me is a big deal, especially if I don’t have money to
spare for makeup items or I’m simply saving my resources for other more important stuff.
Here are
the products I used in the video (Available in Watsons and DAISO):
P24.50 - iWhite Korea BB Holic (Light)
P73.00 - Johnson’s Baby Powder
P88.00 - DAISO Nose Shadow
P165.00
- EB Matte Lipstick (Vogue Diva)
The idea is to be able to maximize the potential of one makeup item. As shown in the video, I used the Nichido Extra Water Proof Pencil not only for defining my brows but also for giving myself an instant nose lift and for contouring my whole face. I used the DAISO Nose Shadow as an eyeshadow and as a complementary color to the contour created by the pencil so that when combined, the color will bring back warmth to my face as if I used a true contouring and bronzing powder. Then I used the EB Matte Lipstick in Vogue Diva as blush and lip color.
So you see, it is indeed a very simple look but it was the idea behind creating this simple look that I wanted to share with you all. Actually, there is second makeup look. I filmed two makeup looks yesterday for NYE. This simple look is the first one and the second look is the bolder one. In that second look I actually just changed the lip color but I used the same products listed above to create a more dramatic eye makeup. I hope to still be able to put that up on YouTube in time for NYE but in case I couldn’t, here’s a photo of the second NYE Makeup Look that I’m talking about:
And that’s it my dear friends for this entry. I wish you all an amazing New Year and may we all continue to revel in God’s never-ending love today and forever!
I wish you all a very merry Christmas!
May your lives be continuously filled with God's endless and unconditional love today and forever.
Last month my hubby and I went back to the Philippines because as I have mentioned in my November Rundown post, we just really had to as it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for all of my hubby’s siblings to be able to come home from different countries for a special family event.

And while we’re in the Philippines, I tried to vlog as well so we could have a nice souvenir of this trip. So if you haven’t been visiting my YouTube channel, which you should by the way (LOL), here are all the vlogs I have filmed, edited and uploaded in remembrance of our Pinas trip last month.
By the way, A separate entry about our experience in Club Balai Isabel will be up sometime soon, so please look out for that.

I am about to run out of my lip and cheek tint from The Face Shop and decided to check on other alternatives for that easy to apply lip and cheek product.

I came
across this Lip & Cheek Velvet Stick
in Poppy Red from The Body Shop when there was a sale at Paya Lebar Singpost Centre last
month and so on Monday (Dec 18th) I uploaded to my channel my first impression
review of this product to share with you all my thoughts about it.
This product retails here in Singapore for SGD 29.90 and I was fortunate to have gotten this product on sale because it’s kinda pricey in my opinion. Based on The Body Shop Singapore website, there are 4 shades to choose from namely: 20 Poppy Pink (28108), 30 Poppy Bronze (28109), 35 Poppy Coral (28110) and 40 Poppy Red (28115). When I got mine during the sale, there weren’t any other shades to choose from other than Poppy Red and since it’s on a 2 for $10 promo at that time, I just got one and didn’t think twice about the shade.
Here are what The Body Shop has to say about this product:
With an exquisite velvet-soft matte
finish, our transforming shade will adapt to the unique pH of your skin. These
silky-smooth sticks are as bespoke as make-up gets!
- Lip and cheek colour
- Matte finish
- Decadent velvet texture
- With Community Trade marula oil
My Thoughts…
Despite
the name “Poppy Red”, the product doesn’t appear that popping red on my cheeks
although it does on my lips. It’s probably because it’s supposed to be a “transforming
shade” – one that will adapt to the unique pH of my skin as mentioned on their
website. Well it’s true that it has this decadent velvet texture that feels
very nice on the lips. It’s very moisturizing and glides on easily on the lips
when you apply it but I disagree that it gives off a matte finish. It’s more of
a satin finish than a matte one. It layers up nicely on the lips and doesn’t
feel greasy or sticky when applied on the cheeks but as for its pigmentation, I
just find it okay – nothing extraordinary.
Now when it comes to longevity, I didn’t find this Lip & Cheek Velvet Stick a good match to my Aqua Tint from The Face Shop, which actually cost even way cheaper. While the latter can last me up until I remove it at the end of the day, the former didn’t even last long enough for me to give my final verdict when I road-tested it for the first time as shown in the video.
And lastly, for its performance, I find it quite costly for its retail price of SGD
29.90. It’s not a bad product. In fact, I love how it looked and felt on my
lips, but for a product that cost this much; I was really expecting something
extraordinary from it and was hoping for it to be remarkably long lasting at
the very least. Again, it’s not a bad product, so if you happen to come across
this one on sale, it’ll be a nice product to pick and add to your lip &
cheek makeup collection.
