Hair Update!

Hi everyone! Remember my hair story? If you haven’t read it, click here. If you’d rather watch what I do to take care of my hair, watch my video here.

Today I just want to update you about mah hurrrr! On Monday, 25th Nov, my hubby and I went to the city to run some errands. While we’re there I decided to have my hair cut since it’s getting harder and harder to manage. After what seemed like 10 minutes only, it's done. Wow! That was fast. When I looked in the mirror... I was like, "wahapen?!?" In other words, I’m not that happy with the results. I paid S$15 for a haircut I think anyone can do.  :( *FACEPALM*

Anyhoo, I still want to share with you how my hair looks now.

That’s all for today! Do you have any crazy hair experience? Let me know in the comments below!

Bellabox Singapore: NOVEMBER 2013 BEAUTY RETREAT

Hi everyone! Before I start with the unboxing proper I want to vent out a little first...

I want to say that I was a bit disappointed with this month’s box and how it was delivered to me. Here’s how it all went down: I got an email from Bellabox on 13th Nov telling me that my box will be delivered on the 18th (the following Monday). I waited the whole day of 18th Nov but did not receive my box. I waited the next day and still did not get it. So the following day, 20th Nov, I decided to drop them an email about my box and it was only then that they told me it would be delivered on the 25th (another Monday). I just got a little bit annoyed that I had to even ask. Tsk. I let that go easily.

I then got an SMS from their shipping company informing me of the time schedule of the delivery. I was told it would be between 5PM-8PM. I thought that was fine because my hubby and I would already be home by that time. But NO! At around 12:20PM, I got a call from the delivery staff telling me they’re at our gate and asking if I was home. I said I was not so the girl offered to just leave the box at our gate and asked me to call her when I got it. I was stunned. I didn’t know what to say, so I just answered, “ok” and the line went dead. My hubby and I looked at each other with a “what will happen to the box?” kind of look. I had to check on my housemate to see if he could probably get the box for me. Agh. Hassle!

I mean what’s the point of the delivery time slot we chose on Bellabox website and the time schedule given by the shipping/delivery company if it won’t be followed anyway? Receiving this month’s box was a big hassle for me. I’m now thinking if I’m still gonna continue next month. Sigh.

***

Alright! Enough of the ranting and let’s start with the unboxing. Here are the items I got:

LYNCACARE MINERAL TRUE COLORS
5ml / S$29.90
Multipurpose cosmetics – our favorites! This silky smooth pigment is your all-in-one makeup color for your lips, eyes, cheeks, nails, hair or body. To be used individually or as an enhancer for other cosmetics.

Initial Reaction: It’s a very subtle highlight color in my opinion. It’s something I might use on (what I’d like to think as) my cheekbones (I really need to go on diet real soon, lol) and on my brow bone. I can also use it on my inner tear ducts to brighten up my eye look.

HEE ETERNITY HYDRO-GEL MASK 24K GOLD+SYN-AKE
3 per box / S$33
Pamper your skin – top to bottom – in 24K pure gold, Syn-Ake and the latest Korean patented beauty technology! Melt hydrogel mask into hot water after use, and sok your hands and feet for a holistic beauty experience!
Initial Reaction: Another mask. End of the story. Hahaha. Seriously, my mask stash is already full!

TWISTBAND HAIR TIES
Set of 3 / S$10.95

Initial Reaction: This is my third time receiving this. No comment.

BELLABOX POUT PENCIL
2.4g / S$17.80
This highly pigmented hot pink lip crayon is enriched with Vitamin E and Beeswax for a smooth and hydrated pout. Tis long-lasting shade is all you need for a classic bella fun time. Pinky promise!

Initial Reaction: I’m a lippie girl so, of course I like it. And I don’t have this color yet in my collection (or maybe I do? Ooops!). It glides on smoothly and it’s not drying on the lips. I need to tone it down though to be more suited for a daytime look.

LIERAC PREMIUM COMPLETE ANTI-AGING
EXTREME REGENERATING SERUM
30ml / S$258
This extravagant anti-aging serum contains 10% pure hyaluronic acid solution that will help restore and condition your skin back to its former glory. Proven to improve overall skin complexion after 2 weeks with a 99% anti-aging effect after just 1 month.
Initial Reaction: It looks very promising and it is also very expensive for me, hahaha. I looked in the mirror and frowned -  my skin’s former glory? I can’t even remember the day my skin declared war, what more trying to remember how my skin looks in its former glory. I guess that’s how long my skin’s been acting up and I’m beginning to lose hope, hahaha. If this product will work, my pockets might go crazy. Oh well!

BONUS: LIERAC PREMIUM DAY & NIGHT VOLUPTUOUS CREAM
15ml / S$78
Battle aging round the clock with the premium cream! It helps to combat the nasty signs of aging with B-Relaxor complex while enriching your skin’s appearance as the same time with its enriching nutritive complex. Aging is officially a thing of the past!
Initial Reaction: S$78 for 15 ml?! I will age faster just by looking at the price of this cream, LOL. I’ve tried a few anti-aging creams in the past and I can’t really remember exclaiming in happiness about the results. Or maybe all these anti-aging products are meant for preventive measures? Hmmm…

There you have it girls! Did you like any of the items I got? I like the lippie and I’m interested to try the expensive serum. How about you? Let me know in the comments

Serenity Sunday: Decision Dilemma (24th November 2013)

When one of what you specifically prayed for has been answered, what do you do? But wait! That's not the end of it. Here's the twist: before you could even claim your prize, another one of your specific prayers has been granted, which now leaves you on the edge of deciding which of the two you’re going to choose? Hmmm...

Good morning, everyone! How is your Sunday so far? Mine is filled with answered prayers. I can’t thank God enough for hearing my prayers and granting my heart’s requests. I just can’t share with you yet what these answered prayers are but you’d all know it at the right time. :)

Going back to my question above, if you specifically requested for two different things (because in your heart, you’re okay with either of them) and you were offered both, which would you choose? And what if you like these two things equally but you really have to pick one, which would that be?

Let’s say, it is your passion to sing and dance and one day you found an online singing competition. Wow! So without thinking twice, you auditioned and wished so hard to pass. While waiting for the results, your friends told you about a dance contest which is just around the corner and because you also love to dance, you went ahead and auditioned thinking that either of the two will be okay since they’re both your passion. So everything seems okay until you found out that you passed the audition for the online singing competition and before you could even confirm your participation for the next round, you also learned that you made it in the dance contest. Huwwaaaaattttt?!?!?!!!

Seriously guys, what would you do? Tell me, which one would you choose? And please remember that in the example given above, you love singing and dancing equally. I hope to hear from you, guys. I’d really love to hear what you all have to say about this. Thanks and have a blessed Sunday ahead!

Ohweee! The LIEBSTER Award!

Helloweee!

I was nominated for the Liebster Award by the wonderful author of http://mountainbeauty2013.blogspot.co.uk and I had no idea whatsoever what this award is, typical me, #LOL.

Needless to say, I went online and googled it. I found a lot, as in “a lot-a lot” of information about it. Wow, cool! And so, it’s basically like a chain letter. And I’ve never liked the idea behind chain letters because if I’m not mistaken (please correct me if I’m wrong), a bad thing is gonna happen when you break the chain…errr? Whereas with the Liebster Award, you have a choice! Not doing it will not hurt you, you’ll just not reap its benefits. Benefits? Yep! And because I’m not feeling that well right now and my mind is not working properly, a very profoundly written blog post explaining about the Liebster Award can be found HERE. Yes! Lorraine of http://lorrainemariereguly.wordpress.com made a very excellent post about the award and the blog itself is FANTABULOUS! She also has an awesome poetry blog named Poetry Perfected, please check it out, too.

So, let’s get on with the rules now, shall we?

THE RULES:
1. Link back to the blogger who nominated you.
2. Answer the 11 questions given to you by the blogger who nominated you.
3. Nominate 5 other bloggers with less than 1000 followers.
4. Go to the blogs you nominated and notify them of their nomination.
5. Give your nominees 11 questions to answer.

MY ANSWERS:
1.   What motivated you to start blogging?
Writing has always been one of my passions since I was a teenager. I started blogging in 2008 but that was like an on-and-off relationship, hahaha. I was never consistent, I guess I still am not up to this day, haha, but I think I improved a little. No? C’mon! Give me some credit, LOL. Going back to the question, aside from the passion for writing, it is my YouTube beauty channel that really motivated me to blog seriously and with more focus.

2.    False lashes - yes or no?
No. It’s not a big no-no, it’s just a soft no because I really haven’t tried putting on false lashes. I had when I attended my prom back in highschool but it was the makeup artist my mom hired who put the falsies on me and I can’t remember liking or disliking it. Long explanation, huh? Hehe

3.    Which product is your holy grail skin care product?
I haven’t met my HG skin care product yet. Yeah, sad. :(

4.    Which product do you think is over-rated?
Off the top of my head, I’d say it is the Dermedex Challenge Pack. I have made a review on it, click here!

5.    Favourite Drugstore product!
That’ll be my Revlon ColorStay Foundation and now that I’ve mentioned it, I realize I haven’t written a review on it, but should I? I mean, there’s already a ton of reviews about it over the internet, would my thoughts still matter to you? Am I talking to someone right now? Is somebody even reading this? HAHAHA (laughed at myself).

6.    Favourite High End Product!
I don’t own a lot but from my collection, that would be my Urban Decay Naked Foundation and my Stila “in the light” eyeshadow palette, which I have planned to write a review on ages ago. My gosh, becca!

7.    Have you been to IMATS?
How I wish! Hahaha. I’m in Singapore, so...

8.    Favourite Sport/fitness activity
I don’t have any which explains “the” current body figure (FACEPALM).

9.    Hair straighteners or curling wands/tongs (I'm trying to decide which one to buy...)
Although I super rarely use heat on my hair, I’d say hair straighteners, simply because you can also curl your hair with your hair straightener but you can’t straighten your hair with a curling wand. If you can… then W—WHATTT?!!!! Unbelievable!

10.  Most embarrassing make up malfunction?
PROM. HIGHSCHOOL. FALSIES FALLING. Hahaha, now I remember why I don’t fancy falsies that much, a big LOL.

11.  Favourite make up application technique!
Hmmm… this is a tricky one. I don’t know if this is really my favorite but I find myself doing this quite frequently lately. What is it? It’s lining my upper lashes first with a powder eyeshadow using an angled brush and then topping it off with a liquid liner. I like the intensity the liquid liner brings to the overall look while the powder eyeshadow that I first applied brings a tad of that mistiness effect.

And there you have it! Now who’s up for the challenge? Here are my nominees:

Helen Blas

Yun Yuwa

Rin

The Girl In Stilletto

Denise Sarmiento

I want to know you ladies more, so here are my 11 QUESTIONS especially made for you:

1. What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
2. Drugstore or High-end products?
3. What is the first makeup product you purchased?
4. If you can have whatever talent you want, which one talent would that be and why?
5. How often do you clean your makeup brushes?
6. What are your top 3 favorite books and/or movies?
7. What makes you happy?
8. If you can be at two places at one time, where will you be?
9. What is your favourite makeup product and why?
10. How disciplined are you when it comes to removing makeup before going to bed?
11. What’s the last thing you do before going to bed at night?

Alrightie! Thanks to whoever cared to read this whole post and to my nominees who I hope will do this, too. Yay!

Serenity Sunday: Let Us See The Good In Everything! (17th November 2013)

Hi everyone!

For those who are new to this little corner of mine in the World Wide Web, aside from blogging, I also make YouTube videos because it’s one of those awesome means to express myself. Now part of becoming of a YouTuber is being judged by people who watch your videos. There would be those who’ll appreciate and like what you created for what it is and that’s great! But other times, there would be people who’ll think you’re “this” and “that” simply by watching what you uploaded on YouTube. They’ll come up with their conclusions of who and what you really are from just a 4-minute video you put up on the internet. Sad, isn't it?

They said that once you made your videos open to the public, you should be well prepared for what’s coming. You can’t expect your viewers to give you 100% positive response for the video you’ve worked hard for. People have different thoughts. What you like, others may dislike. What you think was pretty, someone else may think otherwise. And that is fine. But when do all these comments and reactions become highly unacceptable? It’s when they attack you not for the video you made but for who and what they think you are.

Yesterday, while I was reading the pending comments on my latest video, I got a hate comment. You won't see the comment coz I had to ban the user from my channel after checking his feeds  and finding out that he's been leaving such comments on other people's videos, too. So what exactly is a hate comment? In my point of view, a comment becomes a hate comment when it is plainly about the commenter's opinion on who and what you are, and not on what s/he thinks of your video. A comment is considered RUDE when it doesn’t have any good intentions to begin with and when all it promotes is NEGATIVITY. Yes, we’re entitled to our own opinions and we have the freedom of speech, but that freedom doesn’t give us the license to hurt other people and in turn sin against God. What we think of others is not always right. If what we’re about to say may drastically affect the other person negatively, why do we bother saying it? If what you're going to say is the TRUTH, then okay. The truth hurts but it sets people free. But if it's just gonna be our plain opinion about something and we know our words could potentially sting, why say out loud our thoughts? So that we’ll feel better? Tell me, has anyone felt so much better after deliberately hurting someone else’s feelings? Does it give someone the satisfaction when another person s/he slashed with his/her tactless words is left hurting or worst, broken? Sigh.

Going back to the hate comment I got yesterday; at first it hurt me. Not because it’s true but because it doesn’t feel good to receive a rude comment – as simple as that. I read it over and over again until it hit me...in a nice way. What he (yes it’s a HE) was saying about me may not be completely true but I asked myself this, “What have I really done aside from praying and donating money to help my fellowmen in the Philippines?” That’s nothing compared to what other Filipinos and the government have been doing.

Are you curious what the guy commented on my video? Hmmm… He said that Filipinos like me are what making our country poor coz I’m having a quality time in Korea while my fellowmen are suffering back in the Philippines and that I don’t give a shit. He even asked me if I ever love my country.

That comment, no matter how rude it came across actually woke me up! But I just wanna make something clear first, I was in Korea in September which is a month (and a week) before the typhoon Yolanda hit the Philippines. And that vacation/trip has been booked since last year (2012). My video just went up on YouTube this past couple days because I didn’t have the time to edit it right after we got back from Korea. And the commenter clearly doesn’t know a single thing about me to make such a comment. However, God opened my eyes and made me see the GOOD in his comment. When he asked me if I ever love my country, I paused and pondered on it. I love my country, yes, and my heart breaks whenever I watch the news, so what have I done so far? Whatever I’ve done, IT ISN'T ENOUGH because I know I can do more than that.

On this note, I would like to invite all my fellow Filipinos here in Singapore to join the PINOYSG CHARITY DRIVE on 24 November, Sunday. They were also accepting volunteers but due to the restrictions of the area, the committee may limit the number of volunteers. Check out these posters for more details.

Also, follow Ms Dahlia Rivera on Facebook for more updates.

If you want to donate clothes, please check this link:

If we can do something, let’s do it. And as for the hate comment I got, I’m thankful that God helped me see the good in it and even used it to bring out a better person in me.

Cheesy Much?!?

Wouldn’t it be so nice to be disturbed by the person you love the most only because s/he wants to say, “I love you” to you?

Hahaha. Well, it felt so nice if you’d ask me. Felt? Past tense? Yep! 'Coz it just happened and the story goes like this: I was in the middle of doing my house chores when I got an SMS from my husband.

“Mama,” he texted.

I replied after a few minutes with, “Anu po?” (What? in English). I waited but didn’t get a textback. I followed up with “???” and “Anung nangyari?” (What happened? in English). Still didn’t get an answer. I waited for a couple more minutes and then called him. When he answered, he sounded like he’s in his station and busy working. So I asked him why he texted me with “Mama” and didn’t text me back when I replied. He then said, he just wanted to say he loves me. And my heart melted. Awwwww! Cheesy much? Haha I know!

How’s your day so far? D'ya have a cute or cheesy moment to share? C’mon! Let’s talk about it and let’s be happy over the simplest things in life! ^_^

Serenity Sunday (10th November 2013)

Hi everyone!

What do you normally do on Sundays? Do you go out with friends or do you stay home and spend some quality time with your family? Do you go to church or you prefer solitude over fellowship?

Me? Well, it varies every week but when I was younger, Sundays would always mean going to church and participating in all the church activities, which in my case, usually would last the whole day. It’s been like that for years and I was happy with the way things were going, until I went to college. I took up BS Architecture in college and it was tough. In the first few years, I managed to still be part of all the Sunday church activities despite how demanding my course was. I thought I was doing fine – that I could keep up, but I was wrong. During my last year in college, I had to give up my active spot in church to concentrate more in my studies. And that’s where I realized that I didn’t really need to be that active in church to grow closer to God. It can happen even in my bedroom, with me just sitting quietly on the bed, hands clasped together, eyes closed. I’ve always thought that once I give up who I used to be and what I used to do in church, I’d be lost and that I would totally fail and suck as a Christian, but no. That’s not how it works. Why? Because if God is in our hearts, He will always be there with us whenever we need Him and wherever we are.

So where am I going with this? It’s just my way of introducing a new series in my blog: Serenity Sunday. With this new series, my Sunday posts will be more on realization, spiritual growth and basically anything that can help us all to put our minds and hearts at peace while drawing closer to God, which is why I want to call it Serenity Sunday.

Talking about serenity, I am well aware of the damages caused by the typhoon Yolanda and the least that we can do especially if you’re like me who is overseas at the moment, is pray for everyone’s safety. Let’s pray for our country and fellowmen who got badly affected by the storm. This is a difficult time for everyone: our countrymen suffering and we, watching the news, seeing them suffer. News about the casualties is just heartbreaking. Let’s all pray for all these to be over so that our people can start anew. And for those who lost members of their families because of this storm, let’s pray that they find peace in the midst of all these catastrophes.

PRAYER ALERT!

Good morning, everyone! I hope that despite the strong winds and heavy rain brought by the super typhoon, #YolandaPh aka #Haiyan, everyone’s in good condition. This is just gonna be a quick post. I just wanted to stress how important it is for all of us, at this point, to be united in prayer. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you’re doing right now. We can all say a little prayer even in the busiest hour of our day. This time, our country needs our prayers more than ever. So, please let's help and care for one another. Keep safe everyone and may God bless us all.

DEMO & REVIEW: FANNY SERRANO (FS) BB CREAM

Hi everyone! ^_^

I’m back with another product review and it’s gonna be on this BB cream from Fanny Serrano (now known as FS) cosmetics.

PRODUCT: Fanny Serrano (FS) BB Cream
PRICE: 299PHP (I’m not sure how much it costs now)
PRODUCT CLAIMS:
It’s an all-in-1 cosmetic breakthrough that has the properties of Foundation, to give your face a seamless coverage; Concealer, to flawlessly cover all blemishes; Moisturizer to keep your face from dryness; and UV-Protection, to protect your skin against the harmful rays from the sun.
OVERALL RATING: 4.5/5 HEARTS

THE REVIEW:
I love this BB cream to bits and pieces! It has immediately become one of my go-to makeup products since I got it and I’m sad that I’m about to finish it soon. I’m here in Singapore and I can’t get it from here (or maybe I can?). If anyone of you knows where I can get my hands on this BB cream here in Singapore, please let me know in the comments.
So, here are the things I like about this amazing product:

What I like?
  1. Even though the packaging is nothing extra ordinary, I like its simplicity, the fact that it’s sleek and I’ve always been a fan of black, so what’s there not to like, right?! It’s easy to carry and toss inside my purse whenever I’m going out.
  2. It is very easy to apply as you can see in the video above. You can use your clean fingers or a foundation brush of your choice. It is lightweight, allowing my skin to still breathe.
  3. I love how the consistency is just right – not too thick and not too liquidy either.
  4. Given its consistency, a good coverage is, of course, expected. The best thing is it doesn’t disappoint me. It always delivers! It gives me medium to full coverage depending on how thick I’m going to layer it up.
  5. As for the finish, it gives me this healthy dewy glow that looks pretty amazing.
  6. Its lasting power is great too. I mean, I already know that I have an oily-combination skin type, which means not a lot of foundation or bb cream can keep the shine away from my face for a long time. However, with this bb cream, my face can stay matte for up to max of 4-5 hours, so long as I set it with setting spray and powder.
  7. It has a very faint perfume-ish scent which is no big deal for me and besides, it doesn’t claim to be fragrance-free, so all is well!
  8. It has sun protection benefits (UV-Protection) and is indeed moisturizing

What I don’t like?
I’ve stared at the monitor for a good 10-15 minutes and I still couldn’t think of any particular aspect of this BB cream that I don’t really like. What I can think of that I really dislike is the fact that they don’t sell it here in Singapore, haha.

WOULD I REPURCHASE?
Yes, yes, yes! But since we don’t have it here in Singapore, I’m probably gonna have to buy like two or three of this when I visit my homeland or maybe I can ask my bestfriend to purchase it for me instead, haha.

DO I RECOMMEND THIS?
Totally YES! I have oily/combination skin, and this BB cream has worked great for me, what more for those with dry to normal skin type?!
